Supreme Irony - Kagan Nomination Ends Gay Marriage Hopes

The meme has taken hold that Kagan is a stealth candidate who has avoided taking positions on important constitutional or other issues throughout her career.

But on one issue of critical importance to the left -- the constitutional right to same-sex marriage, Kagan has staked out a very clear and unequivocal position: There is no constitutional right to same-sex marriage.

  1. If you go on to read the article it explains that she isn't stating whether she is for or against same-sex marriage. She is just saying there is no constitutional right. That this is an issue that must go through the political process and that the voters must decide on.

    In a perfect world we would all be truly equal and it is sad that many ignorant voters are keeping people from equality. The Supreme Court isn't where this is going to happen, I guess.
