Obama waives ethics rules for eligibility lawyer

President Obama has waived ethics rules for White House counsel Robert Bauer, his personal andcampaign lawyer – and the same attorney who has defended Obama in lawsuits challenging his eligibilityto be president.
Late last year, Obama installed Robert Bauer – top lawyer for Obama, Obama's presidential campaign, the Democratic National Committee and Obama's Organizing for America – as White House counsel. Bauer had been a partner at the law firm Perkins Coie.
